The Language in Your Body

There are so many wonders contained within the human body. The coordinated functions of our 78 organs, 11 major systems, and 37.2 trillion cells for example, that sustain our lives, is a miracle to ponder.

Our bodies, by divine design, were created with over 600 muscles, 200+ bones, and over 300 joints to support mobility. We were made for movement. The more we move our bodies, the more we revitalize our organs, systems and cells to better support our lives.

Our brains are known to be underutilized especially in adulthood when routine patterns set in. The brain needs stimulation and new learning to not only expand, but avoid decay. Vinyasa yoga provides opportunities for new mind-body connections every time you step on your mat to practice. Add synchronized breathing to this intentional movement, and the language in your body flows through energy channels that awaken along your spinal column. The functions of your circulatory, lymphatic, and respiratory systems harmonize. We can orchestrate and elevate our wellness by moving more and breathing better.

With a regular yoga practice, an external withdrawal of the senses occurs. Your brain waves change from beta – active thinking and focused awareness, to alpha brain waves where the brain is alert but not actively processing information. For some, theta brain waves are achieved to allow for an even deeper withdrawal of the actively thinking brain from the external environment, to create a daydream-like state of being where you’re awake, you’re moving, but the mind is focusing internally. Each level of brain wave activity produces different chemical reactions to promote awareness, relaxation, and creativity. Delta brainwaves put you to sleep.

There’s always more to our lives than we know…

If you’re consistently participating in any physical activity, your body knows the actions better than your brain. Your brain can relax a bit allowing your mind to wander while your body does the work. As a consistent yoga practitioner, my body can move through sun salutations, while my mind is exploring my inner world gaining subconscious wisdom and understanding from the language in my body.

Often this results in an idea, or a resolve, clarity, a solution, or a release and clearing of some emotion. This “language” I’m referring to isn’t audible, but it’s received. When energy centers become activated along the central nervous system through yoga, pranayama breathing and meditation, the inner communication highway opens channels for my inner guide, inner cheerleader, inner comforter, inner healer, inner supporter… to relay a Message from my Creator, God. I believe we all have a unique Message flowing within us, communicating to us, whether we’re aware of it or not, from the Source of our beings.

Yoga offers this unique self-discovery to all who are open and willing to receive its mind-body-spirit benefits. After all, yoga was created by ancient civilizations over 5,000 years ago as a means for humans to connect to God to alleviate their suffering. Yoga, and especially a repetitious and continuous practice, opens the pathway for you to discover more about your unique and wonderful creation.

This is why yoga is often referred to as a moving meditation. The word meditation comes from the Latin word, “meditatum” which means to concentrate, become familiar with, or ponder. Socrates said, “To know thyself is the beginning of wisdom.”

I believe we all have a unique Message…

Roll out your mat. Look forward to meeting your Self. Practice yoga at a studio, at home, alone or with an online instructor. Set aside your own hour of empowerment. Move. Breathe. Ponder. There are so many wonders contained within our bodies. You were created for a unique purpose and specific plan, uniquely woven and knit together by the Creator of ALL. And, you’ll discover through yoga, that ALL is within you! Take the journey into the mysteries of you. Gain wisdom from the language in your body. It contains a Message just for you.
